Recap of Go Gold Cancer Awareness Month

The Harrison Township “Go Gold” Cancer awareness month has been successfully raising funds for 6 years now. On September 6 Kelly Redkoles organized the celebrity bartending event raising $2,310 for St. Baldrick’s Foundation! St. Baldrick’s is a leading organization in funding childhood cancer research. Bartending guests included Karen Roger’s from 6abc, Mayor Manzo, Julie DeLaurentis, Gino and June Giumarello, school officials and others.

Throughout September, Harrison Township School District sold wristbands to staff which allowed staff members to participate in casual dress down days! Looks like our teachers really enjoyed dressing down, because the school district raised an additional $2,380 for the Emmanuel Cancer Center in Woodbury. The Emmanuel Center provides many services to local families who have children with cancer.

On September 21, the Harrison Township Cares Blood Drive and Bone Marrow Registry took place and stuck to the trend of being a success! There were 23 units of blood donated and 6 new bone marrow registrants.

There’s still time to show your support – donate $1 to St. Baldricks Foundation to help advance childhood cancer research!
