Township Committee Interview Series: Discussion with Julie DeLaurentis

Today I speak with Committeewoman Julie DeLaurentis, continuing my interview series with members of the Township Committee.

To Our Harrison Family,

Continuing with my interview series with members of Township Committee about their roles and responsibilities, today I speak with Committeewoman Julie DeLaurentis. Julie is completing her first term as an elected member of the governing body and she has made a major impact in these last three years. Today’s discussion focuses on her role working directly with me in dealing with the development projects and land use decisions we are confronted with. Clearly, this is one of the most important aspects of being an elected official as these decisions determine the growth and evolution of our community.

This role includes interaction with developers seeking support or approvals for housing or commercial projects in town, as well as our intentional pursuit of certain desirable uses in our community. Julie has taken a lead role in our interaction with surrounding communities, as we have entered into regional redevelopment agreements with multiple towns, including Mantua, Glassboro and Woolwich. This is a key component of our SmartGrowth philosophy to always view our actions through a regional lens.

Take a few minutes to view my conversation with Committeewoman, Julie DeLaurentis.
