Launched on July 16, New Jersey now has a new number for residents to call for help with mental-health issues or when experiencing a substance-abuse crisis.
Manned 24 hours a day, seven days a week, the quick dial number “9-8-8” crisis hotline connects callers to a trained health professional.
In his NGA speech, Governor Murphy proposed a national initiative to increase awareness and reduce stigma about mental-health issues for the young, as well as improving access to care.
