Mayor’s Minutes

Mayor Manzo provides an update on neighborhood street repairs.

To Our Harrison Family,

We have been hearing from residents relating to sinkholes/potholes, the deterioration of storm water grates, culverts, and other needed street repairs in their neighborhood. Over the last few years, the township’s Public Works crew has tried to make these repairs as needed. In reality this has been a challenge with the growing need and staff size of our Public Works Department.

The township also has an ongoing repaving plan for all sub-divisions based on their age, although premature deterioration is also a consideration. The complete repaving of the streets in any development requires the replacement of all storm water drains first, making the job a major undertaking.

The backlog of needed repairs, coupled with the staffing limitations, required us to take more immediate action. In response, we have reallocated a portion of our budget to address these issues. Our plan of action includes hiring paving contractors to expedite the process. Over the next 40-60 days, as weather permits, we will address the emergent situations. When the weather breaks early next year, we will continue the effort, addressing the less urgent areas.

We appreciate your input and ask that you continue to let us know your concerns directly or through your HOA leadership. We hear you, always. Thank you for your patience as we work on the repairs, but we want you to know that it is happening.

Together for Harrison Township,
Lou Manzo
Your Mayor
