Dear Fellow Resident,
On Sunday, Christians throughout the world will celebrate Christmas. Regardless of how we practice our faith, the holidays are often celebrated with decorations, meals, and laughter. These traditions, many handed down from generations before us, allow for time with the most important people in our lives – close friends, family, and loved ones.
In our home we are at that time in life where we are welcoming new generations and new family members brought to us by our children. This Christmas season will be my first as Poppa Lou with the birth of my grandson. To our expanding family we share with delight the telling of great stories and memories of loved ones from our past. A holiday memory that is so vivid for me is my paternal grandfather, who was bigger than life, sitting at the head of the dining room table in my childhood home holding court and feasting on Christmas dinner.
This season is also a time for our community to take a step closer to each other. There is a benevolence amongst our residents that is very special, it serves as a foundation of our Harrison Strong spirit. The generosity of our residents never ceases to amaze me. Nor does our community festivity, Lights on Main. I hope you had the chance to experience this amazing event last month. This video captures some of the celebration.
I hope that you and your family create special memories this holiday season. On behalf of my fellow Township Committee members, Deputy Mayor Julie DeLaurentis, Committeewoman Michelle Powell and Committeemen John Williams and Adam Wingate, I wish you and your family a Merry Christmas and to all a wonderful Holiday Season.
Together for Harrison Township,
Lou Manzo
Your Mayor
