Mayor’s Minutes

To Our Harrison Family,

As we enter this weekend, those of the Christian and Jewish faiths, worldwide, are set to celebrate Easter and Passover, respectively. The Christian community recognizes the resurrection of Jesus Christ three days after his crucifixion with their Easter celebration. Passover is the celebration by Jewish people of their ancestor’s exodus from slavery in ancient Egypt. Traditions includes a special meal called Seder, and the retelling of their ancestor’s history in bondage, their deliverance and hasty departure from Egypt.

In the New Testament of The Bible, Easter and Passover are connected since Jesus entered Jerusalem and gathered his disciples to celebrate Passover’s Seder meal. Christians memorialize this as The Last Supper. Both Easter and Passover include traditions such as the welcoming of spring and festivities that include joining with family and friends.

On behalf of Deputy Mayor, Julie DeLaurentis and Township Committee members, John Williams, Adam Wingate, and Michelle Powell, I wish the members of our Christian and Jewish communities a happy and healthy Easter and Passover.

Together for Harrison Township,
Lou Manzo
Your Mayor
